Spring Debate at Cayuga Correctional Facility

June 4, 2026

After a full semester of research and practice, the Debate Club at Cayuga Correctional Facility took on members of Cornell’s Speech and Debate Society at the prison. The topic for this debate was whether theSupreme Court of the United States has lost its ability to be fair and impartial. Both well-prepared teams enjoyed the intellectual sparring, but Team CPEP narrowly won the debate.

The Debate Club at Cayuga CF is a fully student-run organization made up of CPEP students who have been working with Cornell’s Speech and Debate Society for several years now.  Some years the two teams debate each other and other years they debate in mixed teams. It can be difficult to know who to root for — in every case, both sides are Team Cornell.
