CPEP Recieves $1.5M to Create National Research Hub

June 4, 2026

CPEP had been awarded a $1.5M grant from Ascendium Education Group (see Cornell Chronicle). Building on an earlier award from Ascendium, this new grant will extend and expand our project of improving higher education in prison through by tracking student outcomes, and assessing best practices for the field. This grant allows CPEP to continue to lead this effort on the national stage (inset, see image from our recent conference on higher education in prison research).

CPEP has been tasked with creating a nationwide HEP research hub that will serve to improve communication and collaboration and create a forum to collectively address barriers that impede the collection and use of data nationwide. To learn more, see the Cornell Chroniclearticle or watch this news clip from WBNG.
