Hannah Ambinder ’20

Hannah Ambinder came to Cornell University as an ILR major with a passion for social justice.  She immediately got involved with, and eventually led the student organization Students for Students which works with incarcerated youth.  In her sophomore year Hannah started working with CPEP as a TA at Auburn CF teaching Intro to Psychology and followed up the next semester as a TA for World Literature.

The eye-opening experience of working at Auburn cemented for Hannah a drive to work 1:1 with justice-impacted clients – putting her on a path that led her to Harvard Law School.  Hannah distinguished herself by participating in Harvard’s Capital Punishment Clinic, Criminal Justice Institute, and the Prison Legal Assistance Project as well as working with the Rhode Island Office of the Public Defender.

Today, Hannah is working in New York City for Kostelanetz LP where she is practicing criminal defense law.  She believes that every lawyer and for that matter, every voter should understand what a prison looks like on the inside and what it means to be incarnated.  She is grateful to have had that experience at CPEP and believes it has made her a better lawyer.
