Writer’s Workshop is a creative writing program held at all three facilities. At Auburn, the program began in fall 2023 and is facilitated by long-time CPEP volunteers Toni Murdough and Ken McClane (retired Cornell faculty), with support from CPEP librarian Maddie Reynolds. Each semester, the workshop typically includes 10–15 students.
In this program, CPEP students share their original writing with the group. Their work is discussed collaboratively, with constructive feedback offered in a spirit of encouragement and support for each author. In recent semesters, students have been preparing pieces for an upcoming anthology of incarcerated voices.

Writer’s Workshop continues a longstanding tradition of creative writing within the CPEP community at Auburn. Even before the launch of this formal workshop in 2023, creative writing was a central focus of CPEP. Several issues of Writer’s Bloc, a collection of writing and artwork by CPEP students, were previously published.
